not-doings

Hello, can anybody post some not-doings which really work ? :) i cant make looking into shadow a not-doing ... however
one technique which i constructed myself is good - you just take a look at some thing which reflects light, but not very clearly, for example
like a wet school board or turned off TV, you then see a view - reflected walls, windows from your "real" environment and so on.. then you imagine that it's not reflected view, its like a "secret chamber" which you can enter, then move your awareness to the view and imagine how you could walk in it, this works very well :)

i use not doing as a way to have experiences i normaly would not have in my normal everyday experience.to me this is a opening up to energy experience

make yourself eat food you hate.
if your not social make friends and hang out.
if your striaght kiss the same sex
wear a color you hate. if your macho masculine wear pink.
if your a neat freak be messy
if you hate bush keep a picture of him in your wallet with a heart around his face.

not doings are usually very inconvineint so pick a time and place to do them.

acesss to will is very hard but once you stop the thinking and do the action the use of will is easier to do with every not doing you do.

    ooo i like that one
i used to do that, with the turned off tv, before i had even gotten into my spirituality at all, thats really neat that someone else sees it as a not doing.

with the suggestions of other not doigs, i personally cant think of anything, but something that may help you out is looking into taoism as well, not the religious aspect but the philosophical aspect, read tao te ching (sp) my favourite translation is the one by ursula leguin, its a very poetic and beautiful translation. brain candy ^.^

lots of lvoe and luck brother!

i understood not-doing like doing something one finds completely useless,
but doing it very accuratly as if he'd really believe in - like, mowing the parking lot ... err ... or avoiding to step on every second plate on the left side of the sidewalk, or crossing the street every time a green car comes by ... i don't know, haven't found something really good yet myself :)

not doing seems to be going against the grain of your normal thinking
so it seems like there's a ton of ways to do it

one way that i've done is when looking at things to look at the exact thing i would never notice, or never care to look at. Like in looking at a picture, singling out a piece of it that is not bright nor obvious and focusing there, so my brain gets confused because it's used to seeing the main aspect to something. It works rather well. The other techniques you guys mentioned work well too. I've yet to submerge myself completely(mowing a parket lot and such) but when practiced I think even the more minor techniques can really loosen up the perspective.

sure, it's probably not neccessary to do such enormously spectacular weird things (not that i really know much on this), some years ago i liked to look at the shadows of things primarily instead of the things itself, like mentioned somewhere in the older books of mr. c -
that was somehow ... interesting, too ... but i still do not know what to expect from such practics ... obtaining personal power? hm, who knows ... fascinating anyway

Ok I will admit it has been a while since I read his books...but they have been and continue to be life changers for me. Since reading them, the Toltec teachings have almost magically with out effort manifested themselves in my life. When I read the books I read them with a “knowing” that my higher self remembered all that was said in the books…and I asked to have the lessons present themselves as I was ready. Our higher self always knows when we are ready and does not act out of fear or cultural paradigms.
Not doings are akin to the Zen teaching of “Satori “which is not true sustained enlightenment but a momentary glimpse. The more of these glimpse you allow the closer to enlightenment one becomes. “Not doings” to me have been a space I go to…doesn’t mater what I am doing or not doing…breathing is a favorite of mine….it as a process of viewing and seeing without language and cultural interpretations. Stopping thought and the flow of preconceptions is difficult but those moments of pure seeing are simply blissful. It is not a state I can always enter on command…I have to invite it…and at first it is almost like shows up when it wants to. To learn to get out of the box of cultural preconceptions I had to view it as a separate entity…an invited guest who lets me see through their eyes. The more I invite the guest…the more they just start dropping in.
One way we are trained to see the world is through the vehicle of our bodies. The most blissful step in “not doings” for me was when I experienced the world from the out of body perspective …it was not a gallant doing on my part…the first experience was seemingly forced on me…but once it happened it became easier to allow it to happen again. At first my mind would interrupt and call me back, but I have gotten to the point where mind no longer does that. I still can’t “command” it to happen…I simply give it a standing invitation.

this is the essence of looking into another world...

    a vwery real tangent.

the not-doing of it is watching and seeing without forcing it into a fashion that we already....allowing it to take form or move as it does...as we do...
